On the Front Range, we hunt a ton of lessers. This call is second to none. The short barrel & insert allows you to get the high notes needed to reach out and emulate a flock of lessers. I was hunting here in midwest and we had a strong wind and we were running traffic. I didnt get much of a reaction from the first few flocks with my normal acrylic. I switch the the young blood and changed the whole morning! The crisp loud notes was enough to pierce through the strong wind to get their attention! it has a permanent place on my lanyard!
I have been hunting and guiding in the Columbia Basin of Washington State for nearly forty years. In the Basin we get a great mix of Canada geese from the smallest Cacklers to largest of Honkers and can get several subspecies in a single day. Big Sean’s Young Blood has been my “Go To” call for chasing these birds since he had come up with it, it has that perfect “Scratch” that those lessers make and no matter the size of geese they just can’t get enough of it!
